Are you ready to power up your week with ‘M’ words that your preschooler can actually say? Today, I’m going to go over 20 words that start with the letter ‘M’ that I’ve started working on with my 3yr old. Some of these words are great sight words, and some are a little harder to recognize when written. I’ve grouped them into categories this week to make it a little easier to teach by section.
At the bottom of the post, I’ve included some games and activities to help your little one learn through play. And don’t forget to grab your FREE printable worksheets!

M-themed Learning and Fun
Make it competitive, make it collaborative, but most importantly, make it fun.
- I-Spy: Either in the kitchen, around the house, or even at the grocery store, you and your little one can practice finding everyday ‘M’ Words.
- Storytelling: I especially like making up new stories with my son. Write the ‘M’ words on a piece of paper and put them in a bag. Let your child pick out pieces of paper and weave a story with the words you are given. Keep it simple, draw only 3-5 words. Take turns to see what kind of stories they come up with.
